Janna
Hymes, in her fourth season as music director
of The Williamsburg Symphonia, has a well-regarded
reputation throughout the nation as conductor. A native
of New York City, Hymes has conducted throughout the United
States, including the symphony orchestras of Houston, Madison,
North Carolina, Omaha, Richmond, Spokane, Springfield and
Florida West Coast; the Cincinnati and Chappaqua Chamber
Orchestras; and the San Francisco Women's Philharmonic.
Her international guest conducting credentials include
performances with France's Orchestre national de Lyon and
Besançon Chamber Orchestra, The Netherlands' Delta
Ensemble and Messiaen Academy, Orquesta Sinfónica
del Estado de México and Orquesta Sinfónica
Nacional de Costa Rica.
A Fulbright Scholar, Hymes holds degrees from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory
of Music, from which she received a Distinguished Alumna
Award. She has studied at the Tanglewood Music Center,
Aspen Music Festival, the Festival at Sandpoint and the
Conductor's Guild Institute, and she counts among her teachers
Leonard Bernstein, Gustav Meier, Otto Werner-Mueller and
Gunther Schuller. A frequent guest speaker, she was also
speaker and honorée at the Women to Watch Celebration
2000, sponsored by the Indianapolis Business Journal. She
regularly teaches at the American Symphony Orchestra League's
annual conducting workshops.


William M. Kelso is
the chief archaeologist at Jamestown and Director
of Archaeology for the Association for the Preservation
of Virginia Antiquities (APVA) in Jamestown. He is a
graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, obtained his Master's
Degree in early American history from the College of William
and Mary and completed his Ph.D. at Emory University.
Kelso served as the resident archeologist at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's
beloved home, and ultimately became director of archeology. He lectures on
Architectural History at the University of Virginia's School of Architecture
and has served as Adjunct Professor at the College of William and Mary.
Dr. Kelso is the recipient of numerous honors
for his work in archeology including: the Harrington Medal,
Society for Historical Archaeology; College of William and
Mary, Honorary Doctorate of Science; National Society of
the Daughters of the American Revolution, Historic Preservation
Medal; Library of Virginia Literary Award, Peoples Choice: Jamestown,
The Buried Truth, UVA Press; The Colonial Dames of America
Citation, Jamestown, The Buried Truth, UVA
Press; The Virginia Natural Science Museum,
Thomas Jefferson Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Natural
Science in the Commonwealth of Virginia; Congressional
Record Recognition, United States House of Representatives;
and Virginian of the Year, Va. Press Association.
Dr. Kelso has also written several
books about Jamestown as well as well as other archaeology
works.

General Anthony Zinni, USMC (Ret) is
Executive Vice President of DynCorp International Inc. General
Zinni retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2000 after 39
years of service. He served as Commanding General, First
Marine Expeditionary Force, from 1994 to 1996, and as Commander-in-Chief,
U.S. Central Command, from 1997 to 2000. Over his career,
General Zinni’s military service took him to over 70
countries, including deployments to the Mediterranean, the
Caribbean, the Western Pacific, Northern Europe, and Korea.
General Zinni holds 23 personal military awards and 37 unit,
service, and campaign awards.
In November 2001, General Zinni was appointed
Senior Adviser and U.S. Envoy to the Middle East. He participated
in presidential diplomatic missions to Somalia, Pakistan,
Ethiopia, and Eritrea, and State Department missions involving
conflicts in Indonesia and the Philippines. General
Zinni serves on the boards of several corporations, universities
and organizations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree
in Economics from Villanova University, a Master’s
degree in International Relations, and a Master’s degree
in Management and Supervision.
General Zinni has written numerous articles,
op-ed pieces, and monographs. With Tom Clancy, he co-authored
a New York Times Bestseller book entitled “Battle Ready”.
His foreign policy book entitled “The Battle For Peace” was
also a New York Times Bestseller and a Foreign Affairs Bestseller.
